Financial Timeline


June 2005 – MckDaddy’s construction business established.

March 1, 2007 – MckMama quits her full-time elementary art teacher job.

March 14, 2007 – MckMama and MckDaddy decide to put their Chaska house on the market and make an offer on the Mound lake house. Chaska house does not sell; eventually forecloses in 2008.
[House specs: 1,431 sq ft; 3 bed/2 bath]

March 19, 2007 – MckMama announces that the offer they put in on the Mound lake house was accepted.

April & May 2007 – MckMama mentions several times her cleaning lady, Merly, who just also happens to be the “sometimes caretaker” of her kids.

June 11, 2007 – MckMama mentions on her blog that she is busy interviewing girls for the nanny position she has available.

June 15, 2007 – MckMama and MckDaddy move into the Mound lake house even though their Chaska house has not sold. [House specs: 2,500 sq ft; 3 bed/3 bath]

July 5, 2007 – MckMama mentions MckDaddy bought a boat.

August 28, 2007 – MckMama hires a nanny named Karissa.

August 29, 2007 – MckMama signs purchase agreement for 2007 Cadillac Escalade.
[Terms: principal of $67,879.15 at APR of 7.69%, down payment of $13,000]

September 4, 2007 – MckMama’s sister Hilary moves her family (husband and son) from Illinois to Minnesota to occupy (and pay rent on) Mck’s Chaska house, essentially saving the day.

July 2008 – MckMama and MckDaddy find out about Stellan’s heart condition (in utero).

July 2, 2008 – First DV arrest.

August 25, 2008 – Second DV arrest.

October 2008 – Stellan born; no SVT issues.

January 2009 – McKinneys fall behind in payments on Mound lake house.

February 2009 – Escalade repossessed by the bank.

March 2009 – Stellan hospitalized with SVT.

April – November 2009 – Stellan in and out of ERs / hospitals with SVT episodes.

Late Spring 2009 – MckMama adds advertising to her blog and “initially give all the money away to charities.”

May 1, 2009 – IRS tax lien recorded in the amount of $52,207.33 for tax years 2006 & 2007.

Summer 2009 – Facing foreclosing on Mound lake house, McKinneys stop payment and instead save money for down payment on new house. Mound lake house forecloses on July 9, 2009. They also “begin to be able to start supporting our family with money from my blog as well as continuing to support a handful of ministries, missionaries and charities.”

August 28, 2009 – MckDaddy gets his residential building contractor license.

August 28, 2009 – McKinneys sign a $485,000, 5 year Contract for Deed on Becker house (including $30,000 down payment) with $3,300/mo payment terms.
[House specs: 4,162 sq ft, 4 bed / 5 bath, 2.5 acres, built 2006]

November 2009 – Stellan undergoes ablation; corrects SVT.

January 2010 – McKinneys host a one week Caribbean MckCruise for interested readers.

February 15, 2010 – MckDaddy writes about “Seriously contemplating, with the help of a trusted financial adviser, the possibility of bankruptcy, we just wanted our problems to disappear.”

September 2010 – Loses BlogHer ad contract due to plagiarism on blog.

December 15, 2010 – MckMama sued for $27,114.73 for outstanding balance on repossessed 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Judgment filed against her on March 1, 2011.

November 30, 2010 – MckDaddy / Kieran’s Contracting sued for $5,008.77 due to unpaid contractor supplies bill from Beacon Sales Acquisition, d/b/a Roof Depot (original supplies invoice dated 3/19/2010). Judgment filed against him on January 20, 2011.
MckMama later justifies nonpayment of invoice by stating that client didn’t pay MckDaddy, so MckDaddy couldn’t pay supplies company.

February 11-27, 2011 – MckMama travels to Africa with GHNI.

February 11, 2011 – MckDaddy’s 2007 Dodge Ram is repossessed.

March 28 – April 25, 2011 – MckNomading trip #1 in an RV “rented” from a neighbor. Per MckMama on 3/31/2011, MckDaddy is self-employed and since work in the construction industry is slow during winter, he is not missing any work. In addition he no longer “puts hammer to nail,” only manages jobs, so the RV trip will not hamper his work.

March 31, 2011 – MckDaddy’s contractor license expires and is not renewed.

April 9, 2011 – MckMama writes about “deciding wether [sic] or not to file bankruptcy.”

May 22, 2011 – July 17, 2011 – MckNomading trip #2 in an RV purchased for the trip (dates include stay in hospitals for kidney stones). When asked about MckDaddy’s expired contractor license, MckMama skirts the issue and does not answer whether or not he is currently working (‘managing jobs from the road’) or whether he will renew his license.

July 15, 2011 – IRS tax lien recorded in the amount of $35,763.19 for tax years 2008 & 2009.

July 23 – August 2, 2011 – MckMama travels to Africa with GHNI.

August 19, 2011 – MckMama ponders “what to do about the still ever looming issue of bankruptcy.”

September 5, 2011 – Becker house abandoned to the bank; MckFamily moves to “The Farm.”

September 22, 2011 – MckDaddy / Kieran’s Contracting sued for $55,177 for breach of contract to former employee (note page 2, item III-12). Court date scheduled for November 2011.

October 20, 2011 – MckMama blogs that they are “going to need to” file bankruptcy.

December 13, 2011 – McKinneys file for bankruptcy.

January 9, 2012 – McKinneys file a rent escrow action against their landlord.
